ChatGPT – All you need to know

You might be hearing a lot about ChatGPT. Let us understand what is all the buzz about…

When Chat GPT was launched in November 2022 little did everyone knew that this would take the world by storm. The ChatGPT stands for Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer . It was researched and developed by OpenAI, a San Fransisco based company. It was founded by Elon Musk, Sam Altman, Peter Theil, Open AI Chief scientist Ilya Sutskever, Jessica Livingston, and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman. Microsoft had invested billions in the creator to enhance its Bing search and Microsoft Edge browser. The tool works as a chatbot which means it interacts in a dialogue format. The dialogue format is very convenient and simple to understand.

Advantages

The tool has the ability to answer follow up questions, admit it’s mistake, challenge incorrect premises, and reject inappropriate requests. The AI chatbot was a quick hit and everyone wanted to experience it. Be it for digital marketing solutions, content creation or flashy headlines the chatbot had answers to everything. This Valentine season people were relying on it for writing love letters too.

Disadvantages

However with great technology comes great worries. Educational institutions expressed concerns about students using it for projects, assignments and exams. China has altogether banned ChatGPT calling it as an instrument of Western propoganda. Amazon and JP Morgan Chase has also banned the tool with the concern of data sharing. The biggest worry had been Artificial Intelligence replacing human writing and that is somewhat a reality here.

Competitors in the market

The massive success of AI chatbot technology made all the companies in Silicon Valley uncomfortable. The rival companies engaged themselves in the race of developing similar tool. Google developed it’s own AI Chatbot ‘Bard’ which failed to impress everyone. Chinese tech giants like Alibaba.com and WeChat are also in the race of developing similar technology.
